The Sustainable Economic and Community Development program is designed to help you understand the challenges and opportunities small developing countries such as Belize face as it aims to balance economic development and sustainability. The program is packed with field trips, lectures from experts across Belize’s economic sectors, cultural excursions, and hands-on learning opportunities that invite you to make a direct and meaningful connection with a small migrant rural community in western Belize. Learn from Dr. Ydahlia Metzgen, economist, educator, entrepreneur, with expertise in economics, finance, business, and institutional management with a proven track record of advancing economic policy initiatives and research agendas. Learn about the impact of the pandemic on the economy of Belize and its impact on the various economic sectors. Both undergraduate and graduate students can participate in this program.
